Now we commonly feel and knowing the sexual orientation in the Cinema industry and how to embarrass the ordinary audience views. The cinema industry reveals the truth of how the power and authority occupying to the human being. "#metoo" is very popular in every social media since the last year. There many complaints filed against actors, producers, directors and financiers in the total industry. The actress, singers and dancers face adverse moments to their first entering in the field. #metoo is describing the artists and talented peoples have to give sexual bribes to the key people to enter into the industry. This has to be stopped to a healthy industry environment. (source; Twitter) So, people should understand the situation and finding the legal way to overcome the problem.
The labour law provides the guidelines to exit from the sexual orientation through whistleblowing policy has created instant communication with a supportive solution to the victim. The speciality of this policy is the victim has no need to blow the whistle, anyone blows the whistle and can make a complaint to the higher management of legal authorities or media. Further, sexual advances by a person in the workplace are considered as sexual harassment and Sri Lankan law will send the offender to a minimum of five years of imprisonment. The next is gender discrimination in a worksite is highly imposed in parallel of every industry. The people are commonly segregated into male and female genders. Every human having mutual rights and wants. In the past decades, the community had barriers for females higher education and working women are looked as immoral personnel. Women just have to look after their family and households, and they are incapability to earn money.
But, the high-level of education has broken the community barriers and bring women as equal to men. as one step above, we are proud to be a Sri Lankan to brought the first female as a prime minister of the world. However, female employees are still facing gender discrimination in every part of the world. But, labour law removes the unfair practices and gender discrimination.
However, I can place here a wonderful story as an example of a young mother in my home town. Pushpsrani, she got married to a person who drives a bus, and the family has survived from his earnings. The husband has parked the bus in his house premises on every evening. Little by little, she attracted to drive the bus and learned to drive the bus with the assistance of his husband. Later she got the licence to drive the bus. In between the period, they brought a bus and her husband had driven it until he deceased in young age.
After her husband, she had faced many difficulties in the conducted transport business for family survival. The male drivers' who had come after her husband not regular comes to work or stealing the fuel, so she had decided to drive the bus her own. Firstly, she faced many barriers such as mocking others. However, she had not backward to drive the bus. She had passed the one year as a bus driver as very popular among the female passengers. The public is supporting her and filled with full of passengers and enjoys on every journey.
So, gradually she has earned as much as brought a new bus to extend the service. She had honoured for her hard work and had been an inspiration for backwards females in society. She has fought against gender discrimination and successfully overcome. (source; personal interview)
In the same way, the law and regulations are protecting every person in a limited dimension. People are when facing any form of discrimination, they should aware of the environment and being self-confidence will help to overcome the unfairness. Moreover, Armstrong, (2014) has suggested to changing the job titles should as in common name, that really helped to change the common criticism view of society such as; craftsman - artist, fireman - firefighter, policeman -police officer and salesman-salesperson.
Thank you.

I accept your thoughts. For example in Sri Lanka women make significant contributions to the national economy and human rights situations are changing, but women's lives are still conditioned by state and discriminatory religious laws, conferring social and economic status. The majority of working women in Sri Lanka focus on low-paying jobs in the agricultural, industrial and service sectors (Canada 1990; Hettiarachchy 1992; United Nations 1987). Especially in the sectors where unskilled and unschooled men are highly employed, the genders in such places making sexual harassment and showing gender inequality. This can be minimizing by making change their attitudes towards female.
ReplyDeleteThere is a disadvantage in reporting irregularities as well as in reporting illegal practices. The complaint of irregularities also brings a lot of attention to the complainant and the organization. Then there are legal testimonies, interviews with the media and investigations that can damage the employ-ability of the complainant.Although an ordinary person would treat a whistleblower as a hero for exposing corruption, industry actors and managers may consider whistleblowers as indiscreet and unfair for exposing the company's secrets. In addition, all media attention can harm the complainant because it can be blacklisted in their profession.
ReplyDeleteThe consequences include not only physical but also psychological consequences for the employee, such as depression, anxiety disorders, loss of self-control, becoming hostile to the employee or trying to commit suicide. Observed discrimination has consequences, both in the working environment.
ReplyDelete“Stress is a reaction to a situation – it isn't about the actual situation. We usually feel stressed when we think that the demands of the situation are greater than our resources to deal with that situation. For example, someone who feels comfortable speaking in public may not worry about giving a presentation, while someone who isn't confident in their skills may feel a lot of stress about an upcoming presentation. Common sources of stress may include major life events, like moving or changing jobs. Long-term worries, like a long-term illness or parenting, can also feel stressful. Even daily hassles like dealing with traffic can be a source of stress.”
