Retail customer & Lockdown trading

Squeezing economy, unemployment, anxiety about tomorrow life makes people hoard things unnecessarily. At the same time, we have enjoyed the lowest price in agriculture products during the lockdown period.  The traders and farmers are effects the retail economy is confronted in each side.

Wholesale business is being closed by the extended lockdown. On the one hand, farmers are doing door delivery to avoid decomposing the excessive production at the lowest price. Is that good for the social economy? have you heard of farmers got committed to suicide and what could be the reason behind the scene?

Profit margins are easily effecting the farmer's effort. In common the government mostly controls the minimum purchasing price to safeguard the farmers. The pandemic situation will turndown the farmers' life in the near future. Farmers' get into the debt trap if they received by local money lenders or microfinance companies. Because of the rate of return is higher than the profit margin. But, the local authorities should have concerned to regulate and stabilise the farm products distribution.

 On the other hand, traders had concealed the groceries to sale and in the sense, hiding provisions makes unnecessary demand and raising the price. Ultimately removing the obstacles and normalising market is the key responsibility of governments authorities.

Further, as we consumers should aware of actual needs and wants; some traders are selling unusual thing instead of the balance payment, some of them forcibly to do extra purchase on. So, the consumer should have sensible knowledge on lockdown purchasing. Because of every rupee has huge value in this pandemic situation.

Child labour and Sri Lanka

We have hit the 100 years of International Labour Organization (ILO) in 2019. But, fight against the child labours is not has coming to end. Firstly, we identify who is considered as child labour. Children, who are deprived of their childhood. They have throwaway education and their childhood for the money. Child labours are mostly engaged to work for winning poverty and starving, Lack of education facilities, Negligence and social irresponsible of ours. Sahan, J. (2015) As we are Sri Lankans we all afford free education. The government keeps trying to get out people form socio-economy struggle. However, in the current situation, we can point to seeing the children selling the incense sticks in the street sidewalks and selling bunch fruit bags in the main roads.
